The Canadian Coalition of Organizations Responding to Hepatitis B and C unites organizations and individuals to focus increased attention on the response to hepatitis B and C.

AIDS Bow Valley serves the mountain resort communities of Lake Louise, Banff, Canmore, Exshaw, Morley, and Kananaskis by providing community outreach through prevention education, awareness, referrals, and support to residents, seasonal workers, and visitors who are affected by, at risk of, or infected with HIV & AIDS or STIs.

The northern Alberta chapter of the CLF has a peer support group in Edmonton for people living with liver disease which meets monthly as well as annual speaker series educational sessions. The Calgary chapter offers “Living with Liver Disease” information sessions on a regular basis.  Both of these CLF chapters can facilitate peer mentorship for people living with Hep C if they would like to ask questions and get support from a CLF member who is also Hep C positive. Safeworks is a prevention and education program that provides sterile harm reduction equipment as well as health services, including Hep C testing, to their clients.  Services are provided through their mobile van service and at the Calgary Drop-In Centre, the Salvation Army Centre of Hope and the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre. Safeworks also runs a support group, called “Grateful or Dead,” for people who use drugs.

The Hepatitis Support Program (HSP) runs out of the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital with a satellite site at the Boyle McCauley Health Centre in Edmonton.  They offer Hep C testing, counseling, treatment and support services to their clients.  You do not need a physician referral to access services.

Kairos Program or Kairos House, is an assisted living program run by Catholic Social Services that provides housing and counselling support services for people who are living with HIV or who are co-infected with HIV and Hep C.

This laboratory in Edmonton is able to perform a FibroTest analysis to monitor liver damage.

This Hepatitis Clinic offers diagnostic assessment, education and treatment services to their clients.  Physician referrals are required for people seeking treatment but not for people wanting to get tested for Hep C.

The Hep C program at this organization provides outreach and support services, individual counseling, treatment information, workshops and presentations for people living with or at risk of Hep C in southwestern Alberta. A needle exchange service is available at the office location as part of their harm reduction program.

The Medicine Hat Cares Centre offers needle exchange and harm reduction services.  Harm reduction supplies, referrals to support services in the community, Hep C and HIV information and safer sex supplies are also available to clients.

This clinic works with people diagnosed with Hep C who may be candidates for curative treatment.  Patients have access to education and counselling services and are monitored closely throughout their treatment. You must have a referral from a gastroenterologist.
