The northern Alberta chapter of the CLF has a peer support group in Edmonton for people living with liver disease which meets monthly as well as annual speaker series educational sessions. The Calgary chapter offers “Living with Liver Disease” information sessions on a regular basis.  Both of these CLF chapters can facilitate peer mentorship for people living with Hep C if they would like to ask questions and get support from a CLF member who is also Hep C positive. Safeworks is a prevention and education program that provides sterile harm reduction equipment as well as health services, including Hep C testing, to their clients.  Services are provided through their mobile van service and at the Calgary Drop-In Centre, the Salvation Army Centre of Hope and the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre. Safeworks also runs a support group, called “Grateful or Dead,” for people who use drugs.

The Hepatitis Support Program (HSP) runs out of the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital with a satellite site at the Boyle McCauley Health Centre in Edmonton.  They offer Hep C testing, counseling, treatment and support services to their clients.  You do not need a physician referral to access services.
