Hep A, B, & C
There are other kinds of hepatitis caused by viruses.
Hepatitis A is spread through oral contact with the “stool,” or feces (poop), of a person with hepatitis A. It can be in food or water. Sometimes, people don’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom and that is how the hepatitis A virus gets into food or water. It is possible for people to get hepatitis A from sex through the practice of rimming (licking someone’s anus).
Hepatitis B is spread by contact with infected blood just like Hep C. It can also be spread by other body fluids as well, such as semen. Most people can fight off hepatitis B, but there are medicines to help control the virus, too.
You can get a vaccination (shot) to prevent getting hepatitis A or B, but there is no shot for Hep C.
